As Mark Zuckerberg was testifying before congress on Facebook’s role in the 2016 election, THE ONION was preparing a special project campaign called ONION SOCIAL which covered the rise and fall of our own social media empire.

As Creative Director of Editorial Art, I oversaw the branding and imagery. Designers from my team created the look and UI for this campaign, providing assets for social and video. The art department also provided imagery for dozens of articles covering the rise and fall of ONION SOCIAL and even created a perfect papier-mâché effigy prop for one of the articles.

Though this was a short campaign that only lasted a week, the amount of work and scope of the project showcased the wealth of talent from THE ONION writing, art, production, and tech teams. The positive energy in the office during production and publication of ONION SOCIAL is something I will never forget.
